Solar System in the bush

Sigenergy system

Solar System in the bush
A Lodge in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve
Faced with frequent power outages and high energy bills, this lodge sought a solution that didn’t require a large upfront investment. We provided a rent-to-own solar system, allowing them to enjoy a state-of-the-art solar system with no upfront cost. After 72 months, the system will be fully owned at no additional cost.

Off-Grid Power for a Likweti Resident
This homeowner in Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate is going fully off-grid—no Eskom connection, just clean, reliable solar power.
With plans for a woodworking workshop in his garage, we designed a system powerful enough to handle his tools, resilient enough to keep his home running even if one inverter fails, and flexible enough to adapt as his energy needs grow.

Powering Sustainability at Simbavati Amani
In partnership with Alulex, we installed a 105kW Sigenergy solar system with 336kWh battery storage at a growing lodge. The system stabilizes power, reduces grid reliance, and supports nearby properties by switching to off-grid mode during voltage drops.
✔ 108 solar panels installed
✔ Grid backup remains during 12-month performance review
✔ Fully scalable to 140kW
Phase 2 adds another 108 panels in April.
Why Sigenergy? All-in-one design, built-in fire suppression, and a 48-hour swap-out warranty.

A Luxury Lodge on the Garden Route
This customer is on a time-of-use tariff, with peak electricity costs in the mornings and evenings. In Phase 1, we installed a battery system to eliminate generator use and enable energy arbitrage.
Batteries discharge during peak-cost hours and recharge when electricity is cheaper. The system includes two 50kW Sunsynk hybrid inverters running in parallel for 100kW total capacity.
Battery storage consists of six 61kWh Sunsynk high-voltage batteries, totaling 366kWh. The container was painted per Gondwana HOA requirements and prepped at our Brackenfell warehouse. It was fitted with insulation, rubber flooring, lighting, aircon, and certified fire suppression. Inverters and batteries were installed inside the container with internal switchgear. The foundation was prepared, and the container transported and installed at the lodge. Phase 2 will add solar panels to further reduce costs and the customer’s carbon footprint.

A Primary School in Cape Town
This school took a significant step towards reducing their electricity costs and dependency on the grid by installing a hybrid solar system. With 270 panels powering a 150kW inverter and 286kWh of battery storage, the system meets all their energy needs while keeping the municipal grid as a backup. Now, they no longer have to worry about losing unsaved work on computers or unexpected server shutdowns during power outages.

A Farm in the Stellenbosch Winelands
This Stellenbosch farmer was fed up with Eskoms unreliability for a few years now. After careful consideration he decided to realize his dream of being completely of Eskom’s grid. Now he runs fulltime on solar and batteries, with a diesel generator as a backup.

A Pet Food Factory in Paarl
This factory in Paarl was suffering under load-shedding, since their main appliance is a large grinder motor, which could not be run by the diesel generator. Combining the need of uninterrupted power supply with the striving to be more ecological, we designed a hybrid solar system for them. This system consists of a mighty 500kW battery inverter to run the motor, paired with 600kWh of lithium batteries. A 110kW grid-tied solar inverter feeds green energy into the mix. The generator is integrated to recharge batteries if ever necessary.

St. Matthews Church in Tableview
This project held a unique distinction - the client relied on Eskom power rather than Municipal power. Traditionally, solar systems in this scenario are subject to extensive registration processes with Eskom, leading to prolonged application times and higher, less favourable tariffs. Our solution? We crafted an off-grid system while keeping Eskom in the wings, ready to act as a fallback. Our client is delighted to retain their existing Eskom tariff and only engage them as a backup when the battery charge drops. This innovation is now a standard offering to all our commercial clients supplied directly by Eskom. What's more, we've even extended this design to include a generator as a secondary backup.

Senalala Safari Lodge in the Greater Kruger National Park
We're thrilled to share our project at Senalala, in the heart of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve! Alulex and Mantula Solar successfully installed two 50kW inverters, combined to deliver a whopping 100kW of power, complemented by 99kWp of panels strategically positioned for optimal sunlight exposure. But that's not all! To ensure uninterrupted energy supply, we've incorporated 300kWh of lithium batteries, storing daytime energy for nighttime use. Plus, for extra peace of mind, a diesel generator stands ready to kick in if needed. This client is fully off the grid.

Tulela Safari Lodge in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve
In the heart of Greater Kruger National Park, Tulela Safari Lodge, surrounded by wildlife, lost some of its magic due to load-shedding, leaving the hum of a diesel generator. They chose sustainability, partnering with Alulex and Mantula Solar. Phase one succeeded: 180 solar panels, a 150kW inverter, and 200kWh lithium battery in a custom container. Now, Tulela aims to maximize efficiency, so guests can once again enjoy lions' roars and hyenas' laughter under the African night sky.

A Wine Farm in Stellenbosch
This beautiful wine farm with its Cape Dutch style buildings requires a reliable source of power, primarily for its wine making facilities. Due to our design, which included extensive trenching and cabling, we were able to provide both the farmhouse, as well as the wine cellar with an uninterrupted power supply. Now our client doesn’t have to worry about load shedding interrupting the rare bottling dates or any other step of the wine making process.

A Luxury Guest Lodge near Mossel Bay
This pristine Game Farm on the Garden Route already had solar panels installed. To cut diesel consumption during loadshedding and to reduce the electricity bill by avoiding to buy electricity during peak tariff periods we installed a containerised battery energy storage system. All energy sources being solar, Eskom and diesel generator are controlled by the central battery inverter. In a second stage, we added approximately 100kWp of solar power to the existing array.

Great professional experience with our solar instalation with Mantula Solar. We would definitely recommend them… from a well thought out scoping to a quick, painless installation. We were very impressed with the level of skills and experience of this team. Would recommend them for anyone looking to install a solar system in their home. The company further also partnered with a German NGO which paid us for 5 years of carbon savings from our system. The funds reflected within 2 weeks of installation, an added bonus
Michael Walters, WC
From start to finish Jonathan and the team from Mantula were totally professional and offered a range of options to suit our requirements and budget. They worked with us to make sure we had the right solution and the installation was faultless, on time and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Mantula
Lee-Anne Wijtenburg, WC
Jonathan from Mantula Solar met with us personally and he knows his product and is passionate about what he does. We had an inverter but the batteries were not lasting. We bought our new batteries from him and it works so well and we gave us options of a way forward in smaller projects to get completely off the grid. Looking forward to getting it all done with Mantula Solar
