Something About Us
Mantula Solar began with a vision: to combine German engineering precision with a passion for South Africa. Founded in 2020 by Jonathan Bach, a German engineer with a lifelong connection to this beautiful country, Mantula Solar is more than just a business – it’s a mission to bring reliable, sustainable energy solutions to a nation facing an energy crisis.
Jonathan’s journey is one of both personal and professional transformation. Born in Germany, his early years in South Africa, where he lived with his family and attended school, left a lasting impact. Even after returning to Europe to complete his studies and begin a promising career in aerospace engineering, South Africa remained in his heart. In 2021, he took a leap of faith, leaving behind a stable career in Germany to return to the country that had shaped his childhood.
Mantula Solar started modestly, with Jonathan working tirelessly from a small office in Stellenbosch. By 2022, he partnered with Emile, whose expertise in solar installations complemented Jonathan’s engineering background. Together, they built a reputation for quality, safety, and innovation. The team continued to grow, adding project managers, electricians and technicians as well as admin staff, each bringing their unique skills to the table.
Today, Mantula Solar operates across South Africa, with offices in Cape Town and Hoedspruit. From small residential systems to large-scale commercial projects for lodges and farms, we specialize in tailor-made solar solutions designed to meet our clients’ unique needs. Our Hoedspruit branch, established in 2024, focuses on sustainable energy solutions for the tourism and agricultural sectors, ensuring our systems are not only efficient but also aligned with the local environment.
